I've been watching TCM and seeing Hedy Lamarr reminded me of a rock song from the 70's, but I can't find anything on that lyric on google. All I remember is a strong bass line and the lyric "she wears her hair like Hedy Lamarr" and "she's a real high flyer" and something about "keeps a (something) in a jar"... anybody know this song or the artist? Brown and the Hollywood Sign" by Dory Previn ('72) (one line in that song - easily available on internet - is : "She looked a bit like Hedy Lamarr" All this doesn't correspond with what you mentioned as lyrics, but the fact that there are songs about this actress in the 70s, proves that I - or others - may ultimately find the right song. Neither of the songs you mentioned is the one I'm remembering. I keep thinking maybe it was the Rock band Cactus, but I'm not sure and couldn't find much about them online. I actually remembered it once, then promptly forgot. One of my close friends had the record and we listened to it a lot - though the only song I can remember at all is the one with the lyric you mention. I still remember the tune, but very little of the words (besides "Wears her hair like Hedy Lamarr" and the rhyming line, "Deep inside you know she's a star"). I DO remember the album cover had a color photo of the band members looking out the windshield of a (I think) 1956 Chevy. And I seem to remember them being from the L.A. area...all very vague and perhaps inaccurate. I'll keep thinking about it and I'll let you know if I remember. If you've since learned or remembered their name, please reply. This is kind of maddening...
