Bob,

Do you mean longest charting song of the 1970's?

Number one single of the 70's
What song ended up as the Number One Single for the whole 70's decade. It also stayed number one longer than any other single in the 70's.

Number one single of the 70's
I fear it was 'You Light Up My Life' by Debby Boone!

Number one single of the 70's
You Light Up My Life spent the most weeks at #1 which is probably the correct answer.

I believe the Bee Gees song 'How Deep Is Your Love' may have charted the longest.

Number one single of the 70's
You Light Up my Life was the biggest single of the 70's.
HOwever, the single that stayed on the charts the longest in the 70's (USA) was actually "I Go Crazy" by Paul Davis.(40 weeks on the Billboard Hot 100)
