[Forward to a Friend]

1970's song
This is going to be a hard one, I don't remember the lyrics right, but do know the song was sung by a guy. It is a love song, and the guy in the song is breaking up with his girlfriend,or maybe the girl was breaking up with him, might have even been a wife. I remember part of the song said something about the girl coming in the door and slipping on a puddle of water from where the rain came in, hitting her head, and then the lyrics said something about the guy laughing and the girl crying. It is most likely from the 70's. I know it is not much to go on, but does anyone know what I am talking about.

yes, jdfan, I believe the song was called "Wildfire", although I dont know who the artist was. I am guessing Bobby Goldsboro, but I might be wrong. Just to let you know, I joined this website just to answer your question....I like that song also. Happy hunting!!...

1970's song
uh, never mind on both the song and artist guess. I just looked it up and "WildFire" was sung by Michael Muprphy and the lyrics are not the same that you requested. Sorry..

1970's song
Your question reminded me of this song...

BOBBY GOLDSBORO - Honey

Click to hear on Youtube

See the tree, how big it's grown
But friend it hasn't been too long
It wasn't big
I laughed at her and she got mad
The first day that she planted it, was just a twig
Then the first snow came
And she ran out to brush the snow away
So it wouldn't die
Came runnin' in all excited
Slipped and almost hurt herself
And I laughed till I cried
She was always young at heart
Kinda dumb and kinda smart and I loved her so
And I surprised her with a puppy
Kept me up all Christmas Eve two years ago
And it would sure embarrass her
When I came in from workin' late
'Cause I would know
That she'd been sittin' there and cryin'
Over some sad and silly late, late show

And honey, I miss you
And I'm bein' good
And I'd love to be with you
If only I could

She wrecked the car and she was sad
And so afraid that I'd be mad
But what the heck
Though I pretended hard to be
Guess you could say she saw through me
And hugged my neck
I came home unexpectedly
And caught her cryin' needlessly
In the middle of the day
And it was in the early Spring
When flowers bloom and robins sing
She went away

And honey, I miss you
And I'm bein' good
And I'd love to be with you
If only I could

One day while I was not at home
While she was there and all alone
The angels came
Now all I have is memories of Honey
And I wake up nights and call her name
Now my life's an empty stage
Where Honey lived and Honey played
And love grew up
And a small cloud passes overhead
And cries down on the flower bed
That Honey loved

And see the tree how big it's grown
But friend it hasn't been too long
It wasn't big
And I laughed at her and she got mad
The first day that she planted it, was just a twig

Dan, I think you hit the nail on the head. Maybe my B.G. guess wasn't so bad after all? That must mean my mind is only half gone!!

Thank you so much. I have been hunting a long time for this song. You just made my day. I don't even know how you figured it out. I wasn't very close with my description.
